René Steiner

Founder and managing director

René Steiner studied business economics and qualified as a teacher at the University of St. Gallen (HSG).

After completing his studies, he worked as a teacher of commercial studies at the Kantonschule in Sursee and therefore has many years of experience in education, training and professional development.

He is the founder and co-proprietor of HSS Business Consultancy in Sursee. For over 20 years, he has been advising organisations in the areas of non-profit management, public management and small and medium-sized enterprises. Another focal point is the training and coaching sector, where he has many years of experience in course design and implementation.

René Steiner is the programme manager for OEKOWI and EcoStartup at the Ernst Schmidheiny Foundation.

Markus Steiner

Markus Riedweg

After completing his studies in economics at the University of Bern and qualified as a teacher, Markus Riedweg worked as a consultant for HSS Business Consultancy from 2000 until 2005.

As a member of the board in two bigger municipalities as well as pro-rector and head teacher of two training colleges he gained a long-term experience in leadership. Since 2016 Markus Riedweg works in Dagmersellen as a district council with the department of education.

In August 2018 he re-joined HSS Business Consultancy as a consultant in the sectors of organizational development, public management, non-profit management and the sector of training and coaching.

He leads the simulations EcoStartup, WIWAG and OEKOWI.

After completing his studies in business management at the University of Applied Sciences of Central Switzerland, Markus Steiner held a variety of management posts in sales and expansion for about 10 years in an international retail company.

This included many years of responsibility for the recruitment, training and further professional development of managers in sales.

He undertaked further professional development in the Executive MBA programme of the University of Zurich.

Today he works as a consultant for HSS Business Consultancy in non-profit management, public management and small to medium-sized enterprises fields.

Claude Schoch

After completing his studies in national economics at the University of Basel,  Claude Schoch held various management and leadership posts for about 10 years in human resources, training and project management in a large Swiss bank.

Since 1988, he has been a self-employed training consultant and proprietor of Schoch Partner’s training consultancy in Olten. He advises and trains in the fields of leadership and management, in companies, organisations and administrative departments. He also develops and facilitates training courses on the topics of "Understanding economic aspects" and "Entrepreneurial thinking and action". He is a member of various professional networks.

Claude Schoch is the programme manager for WIWAG and Economy Weeks at the Ernst Schmidheiny Foundation.

Michael Blanck

Michael Blanck completed studies in engineering at the University of Applied Sciences, Cologne, and went on to gain further management qualifications at the Harvard Business School and the University of Pittsburgh, USA.

After completing his studies, he spent more that 30 years in various management and leadership posts. These included working for about 25 years at Holcim in Switzerland.

For 10 years, Michael Blanck taught energy management at the Bern University of Applied Sciences and at the University of Lucerne.

He is the founder and proprietor of Michael Blanck Consulting. His consultancy company advises companies in the field of energy efficiency.

Heinz Schiess

After leaving the Kantonschule, Heinz Schiess studied business management and qualified as a teacher at the University of St. Gallen (HSG). 

For about 20 years, Heinz Schiess has been working as a consultant in information technology. Together with Hans Götsch, he is also responsible for the development and optimisation of our business simulations.

He also taught commercial studies for many years in Sursee and gained a great deal of experience in education, training and professional development.

Hans Götsch

Founder and partner

Hans Götsch has been active in the development of business simulations for 40 years and is considered a pioneer in this field. Today, he brings his many years of experience to the Ernst Schmidheiny Foundation and to ECO CHALLENGE.

Hans Götsch has many years of experience in management and leadership. This includes working for Holcim and SwissRe in various positions.

For around 30 years, he has been Professor of Mathematics at the Fachhochschule (University of Applied Sciences) Nordwestschweiz, FHNW), and in this post he has gained valuable experience in tertiary education and professional development. This is now a valuable resource for the development and optimisation of our simulations.

Karin Fischer

Karin Fischer

Dipl. Betriebswirtschafterin HF (qualified in business economics)

Karin Fischer gained her qualification in business economics in 2008 and worked during 7 years as a commercial employee in a transport company. Since October 2015, she takes responsibility for the leadership of administration and coordinates the training of our apprentices. Karin Fischer graduated the upper professional school for economy in September 2017.

Cornelia Steiner

Book-keeping and human resources

Cornelia Steiner is responsible for book-keeping and also handles our human resources administration.

Yanik Lüscher

Apprenticeship in media information technology

Yanik has been a part of our team since August 2017. He is in the first year of his apprenticeship in media information technology. Previously he completed the 10th school year near Lausanne (french part of Switzerland).
